Spatio - temporal Analysis of Forest Fires in Portugal 1
نویسندگان
چکیده
In the last decade, forest fires have become one of the worst natural disasters in Portugal, causing great forest devastation, leading to both economic and environmental losses and putting at risk populations and the livelihoods of the forest itself. In this paper we present Bayesian hierarchical models to analyze spatiotemporal fire data on the proportion of burned area in Portugal, by municipalities and over three decades. Mixture of distributions was employed to model jointly the proportion of area burned and the excess of no burned area for early years. For getting estimates of the model parameters, we used Monte Carlo Markov chain methods.

Forests play a critical role in sustaining the human environment. Most forest fires not only destroy the natural environment and ecological balance, but also seriously threaten the security of life and property. The early discovery and forecasting of forest fires are both urgent and necessary for forest fire control. This article explores the possible applications of Spatio-temporal Data Mining...
متن کاملStructured spatio - temporal shot - noise Cox point process models , with a view to modelling forest fires August 11 , 2008
Spatio-temporal Cox point process models with a multiplicative structure for the driving random intensity, incorporating covariate information into temporal and spatial components, and with a residual term modelled by a shot-noise process, are considered. Such models are flexible and tractable for statistical analysis, using spatio-temporal versions of intensity and inhomogeneous K-functions, q...

متن کاملModelling forest fires hydrological impact using spatio - temporal geographical data
In recent years, forest fires frequency and intensity has increased, causing a new awareness about their impact not only on vegetation, but also on hydrological regime. Changes in vegetation influence the processes of interception and evapotranspiration, seriously affecting the hydrological cycle. Forest fires can also affect hydrological processes indirectly, altering the hydraulic properties ...
